House of Marios

On November 7th, we implemented the first local activity for the dissemination of the project KA210: NFE FOR DIS (Non-formal education activities for the inclusion of people with disabilities). We visited the "house of Marios, an organization of parents and friends of people with mental disabilities (syndrome down) with the cooperation of high school Ag. Ioannis at Limassol.We had ten high school students who participated and seventeen members of the House of Marios, in addition to their educators who were observing the events.

We started with a name game, then we moved through a scarf. A person was moving a scarf, and all the participants followed the movements of the scarfs with their bodies. They enjoyed it a lot and many of the participants tried it as leaders,too.

Later, we divided them into pairs, and they alternated roles by mirroring one another through scarves. Initially, one was leading and the other was following. In addition, we used Sherborne Developmental Movement, which allowed the children to freely explore and play with the fabric by touching it, moving it with balls, crawling under it, and other ways. In addition, students had to move a ball from one location to another while riding scooters and put it in the box.All in all, we had a terrific day, and the high school students' cooperation throughout the day was quite impressive. The participants also had a great time, and they were excited after the activities.
